Case against 11 Ethiopians tomorrow

A case against 11 foreigners charged with being in Kenya illegally has been postponed due to language barrier.

They could not understand Kiswahili or English.

The 11 men, who were aged between 18 and 35, were charged in a Chuka court yesterday.

Athirati Haile, Genesio Whurku, Neresh Demeye, Aden Dedan, Mathias Shokore, Ker Saidi, Marikama Markes, Alfano Baraka, Elmako Kanabutu and Miskana Tamure were allegedly travelling to Nairobi on Sunday aboard a Probox but were arrested by police on patrol on the Meru-Nairobi highway in Tharaka Nithi county.

Chuka principle magistrate Benson Ireri pushed the case to tomorrow and asked the court to have an Amharic language translator during proceedings.
