Ethiopia lose to Malawi in African Nations Cup qualifiers
Ethiopia slump to their second defeat in the African qualifiers after losing 3-2 to Malawi on Wednesday
Ethiopia's poor results in the African qualifiers continued as they lost 3-2 to Malawi in their second Group B game on Wednesday.

Malawi striker Atusaye Nyondo opened the scoring on 18 minutes but Ethiopia midfielder Getaneh Kebede brought the visitors level on the stroke of halftime.

Frank Banda restored Malawi's advantage with a 62-minute strike and Frank Banda added the third four minutes later.


Ethiopia striker Yussuf Saleh reduced the arrears in stoppage time but it was too little, too late as Malawi had the upper hand in a closely-fought contest.

Ethiopia opened their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 home defeat by Algeria on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, DR Congo defeated Sierra Leone 2-0 in their second Group D game on Wednesday.

Ndombe Mubele and Jeremie Bokila scored on 51 and 86 minutes respectively to give DR Congo all three points.
