Eritrea: The Accusation By Some Foreign Forces Alleging That Nation Is Supporting Terrorism Is a Baseless Allegation - Ambassador


The repeated and wearisome allegation that "Eritrea is supporting terrorists" is unfounded indictment by some foreign forces, said Mr. Beyene Russom, the Eritrean Ambassador to Kenya.
Replying to a question "Is it true that the Eritrean Embassy in Nairobi is used as a conduit to fund terrorism in Somalia?, Ambassador Beyene stressed that the Eritrean Embassy in Kenya leave alone to get involved in activities that go against the Laws of Kenya it had never taught of it. He further indicated that Eritrea is a country which fights terrorism in principle, and that history is a witness.
Ambassador Beyene indicated that it is the regime in Ethiopia that is still occupying sovereign Eritrean territories in violation of the 2002 final and binding ruling verdict of the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission, as well as in violation of the Charters of the UN and AU, as well as the Algiers Agreement.
Ambassador Beyene, who started his argument by posing questions to media outlets in their failure to ask for the proof, and to why they don't strive to raise fundamental questions so as to dig out the truth, said that the allegations only manifest the character and culture of those forces responsible for the allegations. Eritrea is doing its best to articulate the truth and is gaining major success.
The TPLF regime in Ethiopia, which receives billions of dollars as aid for the famine in the country is spending the money for the purchase military and the international community, and that the media have said nothing.
To a question to Eritrea's rejoining IGAD, Ambassador Beyene explained that Eritrea suspended its membership in protest to Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, and indicated that with the emergence of the Republic of South Sudan, the worsening of drought and famine in the Horn of Africa and the situation in Somalia, noting the importance Eritrea could play in ensuring peace and stability in the region and the repeated request by the member states, Eritrea decided to reactivate its membership. He further expressed sadness on the incident in Addis Ababa by the Ethiopian regime on the Eritrean delegate in violation of the organization's regulations and Charter, and said that is Ethiopia which is trying to block the rejoining of Eritrea to IGAD.
Ambassador Beyene underlined that all the baseless allegations will come to an end with the power of law and justice and indicated that Eritrea is working hard in ensuring human rights and social justice, on top of registering major achievements.
