SabaSANA'A, June 17 (Saba) - Yemen and Ethiopia discussed here on Monday
areas of joint cooperation between, especially in the electricity field
and the ways to upgrade it to the level of a true partnership.
This
came in a meeting gathered Minister of Electricity and Energy Saleh
Sumaia and Ethiopian ambassador to Yemen Hasan Abdullah Ali, who
discussed the possibility of Yemen to benefit from the surplus
Ethiopia's power at a reasonable price.
They also reviewed the
problems Yemen's electricity sector suffered from and the causes of the
country's power shortage as well as the Ministry's efforts to tackle
them.
Sumaia accented Yemen's keenness to establish strong cooperation relations with Ethiopia in the field of electricity.
The
Ethiopian ambassador expressed the Ethiopian government's desire to
strengthen relations with Yemen in various areas, including power.
He
pointed that his country sells electricity to a number of neighboring
countries, saying that Yemen has to make an official request to the
Ethiopian government on this matter to be discussed through official
frameworks between the two countries.
