SEVEN suspected illegal immigrants from Ethiopia have been arrested at Busale ward, Unyakyusa Division in Kyela District, Mbeya Region on Tuesday.
Mbeya Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Ahmed Msangi, said that the suspects were found hidden in a bush at 11am, saying the suspects were taken to the central police station in the district. "We are holding seven suspected illegal immigrants from Ethiopia.
We will hand them over to the Department of Immigration for legal action after completion of investigations," he said. Mr Msangi named the suspects as Admasu Eschamo (18), Chekebo Dolamo (20), Inugse Abose (19), Girma Abiyo (20) Dasalin Masha (18), Abayin Arficho (19) and Workicho Kadiri (18).
He reminded members of the public to report to the police when suspecting people to be illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, a woman who was identified as Rutina Ng'ekele (75), of Mabondeni village died while receiving medical treatment at Rungwe District Hospital on Monday.
According to the RPC, the woman was allegedly kicked by a man who was identified as Nicolous Afyusisye he is alleged to have been angered by Ms Ng'ekele decision to pay him back 7000/- instead of 10,000/- she had borrowed from the suspect at Mabondeni village.
"Ms Ng'ekele was taken to hospital on October 4 after she sustained wounds on different parts of her body," he said. Mr Msangi said the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who disappeared after committing the crime.
In another incident, Mr Msangi said the police have arrested two suspects in possession of fake bank notes with the street value of 230,000/- at Uyole area in Iyunga, Mbeya region on Monday.
The suspects were identified as Baraka Mwashilindi (26), a resident of Ilemi in Mbeya region and Gift Mwagozi (25), a resident of Kagera region.
