Medical mission to Ethiopia;2 professors, 8 students from Nevada State College

HENDERSON, Nev. — Two Nevada State College professors and eight student volunteers plan to describe for a Henderson audience their experiences during a medical mission this summer to Ethiopia
Biology professors Dr. Kebret Kebede (keh-BRET' keh-BEE'-dee) and Robin Herlands will talk Tuesday at the college's Dawson Building about working with Ethiopian orthopedic surgeons at Black Lion Hospital in the capital city of Addis Ababa.
Kebede is an orthopedic surgeon in Las Vegas. He'll talk about the group from Nevada helping Ethiopian orthopedic surgeons complete the first total hip replacement and total knee replacement surgeries at the hospital.
Herlands taught immunology at the hospital's medical school.
The students from Nevada State College Anatomy and Physiology Honors Society and Pre-Health Professionals Club shadowed physicians, observed and assisted with surgeries, and interacted with patients.
